Hi! My name is Sara. I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, cook & teacher. I enjoy cooking, vintage decor, books, babies, and spending time at home with my family. I am an Italian girl that loves to eat and cook! I spend a lot of my time cooking and entertaining for my family and friends. My husband works in the wine business so there is always food and wine in abundance at my house. Sounds great, huh?! Well, alas, there is a downfall! This leads me to why I have decided to start a blog. I have struggled with my weight since I was a child. I was never obese but always had to watch what I ate and always had to exercise to stay at a healthy weight. Throughout highschool and college I became a gym rat and was able to stay in shape and still indulge in rich foods on special occassions and keep the weight off. Then I met my future husband when I was at my lowest weight and we fell in love and I fell off the exercise train. We got married, bought a house and got pregnant all within a year. I was able to drop most of the weight that I gained during the pregnancy but never really got back to being healthy and in shape and I have yo-yoed and struggled for the past 10 years. This past year has been an emotional roller coaster and I packed on about 20 pounds onto my already overweight frame. My husband has also put on some weight and we have promised each other that 2015 is going to be the year that we focus on our health and wellness. I have come up with a meal plan and exercise schedule that I have begun this week and I am very excited to get started.
The biggest challenge is that I am a foodie and I want to still enjoy the cooking and food that I prepare. I have done a lot of research on whole foods and how to prepare foods in a clean way while still tasting yummy and satisfying. I hope that you join me in my journey to a healthier me. I will be sharing stories, recipes, struggles, acheivements as well as a peek into my family and home life. You'll get a little bit of everything here!
Today was my day 1. I started the day with a warm mug of water with lemon and them had this yummy breakfast of Ezekiel toast, smashed avocado and an over medium egg. I will try to post photos of my meals as much as I can.
